Words of wonder come out of your mouth looking at how natural the liquid splashed on the wall looked. Slash: Paper Under the Knife at the Museum of Art and Design was one of the most memorable exhibits I visited that I still remember vividly. The exhibit conveys unbelievably elaborate and exquisite material, made with paper. When I first came to see the items made of paper, I imagined works small enough to put them on my two hands, but I was amazed at the sheer size of the items. I also thought how calm and persistent the artist had to be to complete the artwork. In the lobby, a paper pirate ready to push through the ceiling was a preview of how interesting the rest of the exhibit was. My guess was right as the works proved to be beautiful and exciting.

'your house' Olafur Eliasson 2008 
Slash is the third exhibit in a series of material and process exhibits held at the Museum of Art and Design. The exhibit takes a look at the renaissance of traditional handicraft materials, modern arts, and the design techniques. In this exhibit, works of art produced with paper are receiving highlights in the international arena once again as a creative material and a medium for artistic inspiration.

'the story of art' Georgia Russel 2006
Works of art made from paper were reborn in a different way by burning, ripping, cutting with laser, crumpling, rolling, pasting, or grounding. on one side of the exhibit, books were used to create shapes and pieces by some artists. on the other side, paper was cut to make movies and video animations. Viewers were able to experience the various transformations of paper.

At first glance, these works look like rows of accessories belonging to paper dolls with which we played when we were little. However, examining in detail, they seem to be divided into zones or districts as we do our neighborhoods.

A fantastic work of art looking up from below the waters along with the waves’ whirlpool.

'peaceable kingdom (evening land)' Lane Twitchell 2008 
Words cut up and piled up as if the words are shaken off. This was an interesting work of art that showed that the cut‐up shape could be designed into a pattern.
