Rufus Wainwright announces new opera 'Hadrian'

The Canadian Opera Company Announces Rufus Wainwright's Hadrian

In a press release issued earlier today, the Canadian Opera Company(COC) officially announced that Rufus' second opera, Hadrian, will receive it's world premiere at the Four Seasons Centre in Toronto as part of the COC's 2018 season.
Inspired by the life and loves of Roman Emperor Hadrian, the libretto will be written by award-winning Canadian actor, director and playwright Daniel MacIvor.
Already in the works for three years prior to today's announcement,Hadrian will be the COC's first original commission since 1999. Speaking about the upcoming production, COC General Director Alexander Neef says, "Rufus has such incredible passion for opera, and he brings a genuine desire to contribute to the art form and the future of opera. That's an especially rare quality and an essential one, in order to create a meaningful piece of art that lives on long after its premiere."

루퍼스 대단함! 벌써 두 번째 오페라다. 첫번째 오페라가 아마 몇 년 전이었던 걸로 기억한다. 

그동안 새 앨범 작곡만으로도 바빴을텐데 오페라까지!
루퍼스를 좋아하게 되면서 접했던 루퍼스의 몇몇 인터뷰를 통하여 그가 오페라 팬이란 사실을 알게 되었다.
그 사실을 접하면서 문득 울 오마니와 대화를 한다면(언어의 장벽이 없다면 ㅋㅋㅋ) 
밤새도록 수다가 이어지지 않을까 하는 생각을 잠시 했었다 ㅋㅋㅋ
성악 전공이신 울 오마니는 일흔이 넘으신 지금도 앞부분만 듣고도 무슨 오페라 무슨 곡인지 단번에 알아채신다.
루퍼스도 어렸을 때부터 오페라 엄청 좋아했던 걸로 알고 있다. 울 오마니만큼 빠삭하리라 예상해 봄 ㅋㅋㅋ
그나저나 첫번째 오페라도 못 봤는데 벌써 두번째...-_- 유툽에 떠 있을라나...
울 오마니 영향 때문인지 나는 클래식도 성악곡들은 별로 안 좋아한다 ㅋㅋㅋ
잘 모르기도 하지만 난 기악곡들이 듣기 더 편함. 성악곡도 물론 좋다고 느낀 곡들도 있긴 한데 
성악곡과 기악곡 중 선택하라면 난 기악곡을 더 선호하는 편.
아는 성악곡도 몇 개 안 되지만 그 중에서 카스타디바(마리아 칼라스 버전)를 좋아한다 ^_^
성악 듣는 거 별로 즐기는 편은 아니지만 루퍼스 오페라를 국내에서 공연했다면 가서 봤을 지도 ㅋㅋㅋ
